Incredibly, they found that in the region sampled, while consistently fewer people chose to drive their cars on Friday the 13th, the number of hospital admissions due to vehicular accidents was significantly higher than on “normal” Fridays. Their conclusion:

“Friday 13th is unlucky for some. The risk of hospital admission as a result of a transport accident may be increased by as much as 52 percent. Staying at home is recommended.”

Paraskevidekatriaphobics — people afflicted with a morbid, irrational fear of Friday the 13th — should be pricking up their ears about now, buoyed by seeming evidence that the source of their unholy terror may not be so irrational after all. But it’s unwise to take solace in a single scientific study, especially one so peculiar. I suspect these statistics have more to teach us about human psychology than the ill-fatedness of any particular date on the calendar.

Friday the 13th, the most widespread superstition

The sixth day of the week and the number 13 both have foreboding reputations said to date from ancient times, and their inevitable conjunction from one to three times a year (there happen to be three such occurrences in 2009, two of them right in a row) portends more misfortune than some credulous minds can bear. According to experts it’s the most widespread superstition in the United States today. Some people refuse to go to work on Friday the 13th; some won’t eat in restaurants; many wouldn’t think of setting a wedding on the date.

How many Americans at the turn of the new millennium actually suffer from this condition? According to Dr. Donald Dossey, a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of phobias (and coiner of the term paraskevidekatriaphobia, also spelled paraskavedekatriaphobia), the figure may be as high as 21 million. If he’s right, at least eight percent of Americans are still in the grips of a very old superstition.

KILLING MYSELF

BY: BERTLYN CALDEO ALIS

Diverse people from diverse places have once come to colonize our country. Literature and picture stands as a witness of how we endure, struggle, and fight that yields of what we regard today as history.

At the heart of our country carves an era that manifolds through the regime of Spanish occupation, Japanese conquistadors, American colonialism onward to the Birth of World War.And the fruit of these all is my unique individuality.I am the child of the west and east combined.
I am a product of so many revolution. For a time, I was blinded from what is real. For centuries, I was enslaved by people of different blood, color and race.

Spanish colonizers use religion as an excuse to earn the heart of my race. They taught me to embrace poverty as a virtue and expose me to learn gambling and even cock-fighting.

I am killing myself.Killing the old filipino, Within me came rushing out the stinking blood of every devilish deed.My heart has stop pumping the music of deception. My lungs has totally exhaled every waste i have inside.

Mbeach01ay 10, 2009 Mother’s Day,  is the day that i came in boracay for the first time of my life because my twin studying also here in Hercor College taking up BSHRM have a OJT in Boracay for one and half month. So her mommy and daddy decided that they will visit her and i go with them also.

Although for a little bit of time i spent their in Boracay i enjoy because we stay for one night in Swedish Garden Hotel, and we go to beach for night swimming with the friends and classmates of my twin.

Boracay known as the tourist destination, of different people from different places in the whole of Asia. They visit every vacation month and most especially in summer month. They like boracay because of the view of beach, white sand, and the beautiful and relaxing hotel. The tradition and belief of people in Boracay is different from the other places.

For me my plans in my life during a sembreak week is more of what i think as of now in my school days. Because my parents tell me that after i finish my 1st sem in second year college now i stop, because they cannot afford their budget to continue my study because of  financial problem.

I think that i can find a work eventhough the salary is less of what i needed for my study in second sem next month but it can help in my financial problem and also to my parents.

My relatives says that i am the hope of my family, because my brothers and sister they have their own family already. And i am a single in the family. Eventhough i am student as of now i mark it to my mind that, I  finish my study so that i can help my family and also i can give back to them of what they do before to me for my study. And also to my good future in my life someday to become better and matured person.

A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a blogger.” Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or technical background to update and maintain the blog. Posting on a blog are most always arranged in cronological order with the most additions prominantly.”
